Bea's father Brian passed away when he was just three years old. He was an equine vet. Bea wasn't told the particulars of his death away until she turned 13. The stage name Bea was in tribute to her father. Bea was the author of an opinion piece for The Guardian, published in 2017 about her experiences with suicide. Bea was fostered by her sister Sinead and her mother Helen Moloney. Helen is a secondary teacher, jockey trainer, and a former professional racer. The family was awed by racing, horses and the racing industry. Bea spent her childhood as a tour guide for the Irish National Stud. From an early age, Bea knew that she did not want to pursue a racing career. Instead, she was drawn to the performance arts.
